In the history of the Oscars, Iran and Russia are the only countries challenging the film awards ceremony.
Back in 2013, Iran was the country that showed objection to the Oscars for the anti-Islam film 'Innocence of Muslims'.
In 2017, Oscar-winning filmmaker Asghar Farhadi boycotted the awards ceremony in protest at former US president Donald Trump’s unjust ban on Iranians.
Most recently, Russia has decided not to submit a film for the International Feature Category of the 2023 Oscars.
The Oscars is already established on some biased rules and regulations, thus there may be more attempts in the future to contest or boycott the ostensibly famous awards ceremony.
